Interview with AIE graduate, Alex Tuckett

Name: Alex Tuckett
Job Title: General Artist / Technical Artist
Employer: Tantalus Media

What first interested you about 3D animation?
What first interested me was being able to do everything, study everything, and understand it to an extent.

How have your studies at AIE assisted preparing you for working in the games industry?
By showing me what is required in the industry, and teaching me to be self reliant. Also having teachers that really do understand and have real experiences in the industry makes a whole lot of difference.

How did AIE assist you in gaining employment?
By making me Uber Elite.

What did you enjoy most about your time at AIE?
The people, and the teachers. Just being around people interested in the same and similar things always makes things fun.

I know it hasn’t been long, but what are your favorite things about your current job?
Just being able to use my skills in a professional environment, that  would be my favorite thing.

What advice would you give aspiring games artists?
Take it upon yourself to create and do awesome things.

Where do you hope to find yourself in five years time?
Living comfortably on a stack of cash or at least creating my own games.

Feel free to add any additional information here -
It isn’t about what you are being taught, it’s about how much you can teach yourself.
