September School Holidays 2009 @ AIE Canberra
AIE Canberra is pleased to offer a range of courses over the September 2009 school holiday period. All students who participate in a short course will receive a certificate of completion along with a copy of the work produced in class on CD-ROM/DVD. Information regarding specific courses is below.
There is a canteen available, but we still ask that students still provide their own lunch, morning and afternoon tea. All of our courses cost $240 each, with a 10% discount for two or more courses and a 20% discount for 4 or more courses. So get together with your friends and save!* Places are limited so please book early to guarantee your child a place.
Please note that while all the courses finish at 4pm, we are still available to look after your children until 5pm. We will have a selection of games that they will be able to play from 4pm until your arrival. We open at 8:45am during the holiday period and you can drop off your son/daughter any time after that.

Course Descriptions for 7-12 years
Digital Drawing Junior 7-12yrs (Beginners OK) NEW!
Digital drawing has now been made simple and heaps of fun with this course. The course aims to build students confidence with Photoshop CS through lots of mini activities. Students will create strange and fantastic worlds for wonderful creatures to inhabit and will be encouraged to work together to create large detailed images to take home on DVD.
Two day course ~ 9am - 4pm Monday 28th and Tuesday 29th September - $240
Monster Workshop 7-12yrs (Beginners OK)
Ever wanted to design your own cool scary monster? From large hairy, fire breathing beasts to little 3 eyed slimy green martians, the choices are endless! Students will learn skills in 3D modeling, texturing, and animation to create their own little monster. All students leave with a copy of their monster movie, along with the work of their classmates, on DVD.
Two day course ~ 9am – 4pm Thursday 1st and Friday 2nd October - $240
Space Warp 7-12yrs (Beginners OK)
In this course you will create a 3D world with a sci-fi theme and design and model a futuristic machine with real physics. Finally, you will starship to explore the deepest reaches of the solar system. All students will leave with a copy of their final rendered movies, along with the work of their classmates, on DVD.

Make it your game 7-12yrs (Beginners OK) NEW!
Use your imagination to change our 2D game to your own personalised game. You will start with a scrolling game, that has been made by us, and get to change where and how the action happens. You even get to put your name in the credits. All students will leave with a copy of their final game, along with the work of their classmates, on DVD.
Two day course ~ 9am - 4pm Thursday 1st and Friday 2nd October - $240
Trackmania 7-12yrs (Beginners OK)
Use cutting-edge game engine technology to create your own race car and put it into a game. Students will be able to leave with their own game to play as well as a DVD with captured in-game footage to show to family and friends. This two-day course is suitable for all students from complete beginners to those with experience in 3D animation.

Digital Cartoon Characters 7-12yrs (Intermediate - prior experience with 3D recommended)
Want to learn how to re-create your favourite TV, film or games character, or simply make up your own? Students will learn 3D modeling, texturing and animation to breathe life into their very own character.
Two day course ~ 9am - 4pm Thursday 1st and Friday 2nd October - $240
Course Descriptions for 12-17 years
The Alien Planet 12-17yrs (Intermediate - prior experience with 3D recommended)
An Advanced Version of the Junior Alien Planet. Your alien planet can become a place for you to escape. Students will produce a detailed scene and learn about more advanced modelling texturing and lighting.
Two day course ~ 9am - 4pm Monday 28th and Tuesday 29th September - $240
Trackmania 12-17yrs (Beginners OK)
Use cutting-edge game engine technology to create a race track of your own design and build your own race car. Students will be able to leave with their own level and car to play as well as a DVD with captured in-game footage to show to family and friends. This two-day course is suitable for all students from complete beginners to those with experience in 3D animation

(Beginners OK - a small amount of script editing is involved in this class, but not too much) NEW!
Do you want to explore how games are made with out having to start from the beginning? Start with a half built scrolling game and learn how to change the way it plays, through editing existing scripts, and change the art, making it into somthing you like to play. All students will leave with a copy of their final game, along with the work of their classmates, on DVD
