Course Description
The part-time Certificate III in Screen is a nationally accredited course designed as an introduction for people interested in learning basic skills in 3D art. While Certificate courses do not guarantee successful entry into Advanced Diploma courses, the Certificate III in Screen can provide a valuable pathway into the Advanced Diploma of Professional Game Development (Art) or the Advanced Diploma in Screen.*
The Certificate III in Screen is a part time evening course, allowing students to maintain their current studies or employment whilst exploring new career opportunities in 3D animation and modelling.
Students graduate with a basic portfolio of 3D artwork which serves as a valuable introduction to pursuing further study in 3D animation.
Students will be introduced to the uses and architecture of 3D software and will gain an understanding of the skills and techniques necessary to create and render 3D animations.
Areas of study include:
- Basic Modelling,
- Texturing,
- 3D Graphics,
- Lighting and Atmospheric Effects
- Character Animation
Students also complete an intensive commercial production, working in teams to produce a short animation. Students start by planning their animation with concept art and storyboards, modelling and animating their designs throughout the production process, and finish by compositing sound/music and effects into the final product.
*The Certificate III in Screen is neither a prerequisite for nor a guarantee of acceptance into Diploma programs. Entry into Diploma courses is based on portfolio and interview requirements.
